Once in a while, I run across a question asked by a reader (or two, or three) that seems like it may be obvious to most, if not all, but it apparently is not. Today's post is one of those.
Believe it or not, there is a right way, and a wrong way to wrap your MacBook charing cable for transporting. Using a series of photos (yes, that detailed), I will show you the right way to prepare for, and take care of, your MacBook charging cable.
First, let's look at how I see most people carrying their charging cable:
Crazy, right? If the opportunity presents itself, I will usually ask the user if they know about the tabs that fold down from the charging brick. The response is usually, "Huh?"
On the top and bottom of the brick, there are two tabs that fold down:
These tabs are useful for two reasons:
First, you can use them to remove the brick from the power outlet.
Second, you can use them to wrap the cord around for transporting.
One thing to be careful of is not to pull the cable too tight on the first coil. Doing this once or twice won't cause any damage, but making a habit out of this will cause the cable to fray over time.
